Compass Fibreglass Pools
Stronger, more reliable and easier to maintain
Wright Pools & Spas is the Lower North Island authorised dealer for Compass Fibreglass Pools, the world’s toughest, most durable and most innovative fibreglass pools.
Want to know just how tough they are? In the Christchurch earthquakes, of 80 locally installed Compass Pools, just two sustained damage. Robustness is rather important if you live in a shaky earthquake-prone country! Adding extreme rainfall to climatic weather events makes fibreglass pool quality even more important.
Compass Pools has perfected a patented hydrostatic valve (HydroPro) that reduces rising groundwater pressure 5 times faster than industry standard valves used in other fibreglass pools. Your pool is protected for life against damage caused by hydrostatic groundwater pressure and extreme storm events. Each Compass fibreglass pool comes with this feature as a standard feature and is just one example of their superior technology and innovation.
There are many features that make Compass Pools more durable and enjoyable. Check them out below. You can also learn more about the pool construction process.

Fibreglass Pool Features
Not all Fibreglass pools are created equal
A different class of fibreglass swimming pool
When shopping for fiberglass pools, it’s important to understand how the technology differs. Not all fibreglass pools are created equal. For example, some are thin and poorly constructed drop-in fibreglass shells and don’t offer the same performance or longevity as a Compass Fibreglass Pool.
Construction Techniques
One of the most crucial factors when choosing a fibreglass pool is how the shell is constructed to ensure durability and beauty.
In the early 90s, Compass Pools changed the face of the swimming pool industry by introducing Ceramic Core technology. As a result, they were able to provide a pool with unmatched strength that could be backed by a lifetime structural warranty.
The Compass Ceramic Core Difference
- Greater resistance to ground movement.
- Protection against osmotic blistering.
- Increased panel stiffness for added strength.
- Well-suited to reactive soil conditions.
- Enables a greater level of flexibility for design customisation.
The toughest and most durable fiberglass pools in the world
Compass Fiberglass Pools offer new levels of innovation not found in other pools.
Built to withstand movement and virtually impossible to crack, a ceramic core provides added structural strength. This technology means the pool will last a lot longer and cope better with seasonal ground movement. Furthermore, the increased panel stiffness means Compass Pools have added strength.
Benefits of Compass fiberglass pools
- Low Maintenance
- More Durable
- Can Be Installed On Sloping Sites
- Fibreglass pool installation process
Another advantage is their low maintenance requirements. The smooth, non-porous surface of a Compass fiberglass pool makes it difficult for algae to grow, reducing the amount of time and money needed for cleaning and maintenance.
Concrete pools which may be tiled, plastered or painted, on the other hand, require more frequent brushing and chemical treatments to prevent algae growth. There is also regular maintenance required to keep the finish watertight and looking good.
Compass fiberglass pools are also known for their durability. The material is incredibly strong and resistant to cracking, chipping, and fading.
This means that Compass fiberglass pools are built to last for many years without needing repairs or resurfacing. Concrete pools do require resurfacing and repainting over time.
Over 20 years ago, Compass Pools invented Maxi Rib technology, which allows for the installation of their fiberglass pools completely above ground. This means that we can put Compass pools on difficult sites that would usually be limited to concrete installations.
If you live on a sloping site, or hillside or even want your pool on a rooftop, talk to us about what we can achieve for you.

Types of fiberglass pools
Compass Fiberglass Pools come in a variety of sizes and finishes. These include in-ground fiberglass pools, above-ground pools, semi-inground, lap pools, plunge pools, small and large as well as infinity edge. They can even be installed on a sloping site!

The Vantage self-cleaning system from Compass Pools reduces chemical usage, eliminates cold spots, and keeps your pool clean without the need for regular hand vacuuming, brushing, or other methods of cleaning.
Unlike traditional pool circulation systems, the Vantage system circulates your pool from bottom to top. All of the layers of the pool water are penetrated, eliminating ‘dead spots’ where algae and bacteria grow. Like a mountain stream, the Compass Pools Vantage System regularly circulates and constantly refreshes the water in your pool.
With Compass Pools, you can choose from two fantastic colour ranges in two systems: the Bi-luminate Colour System for superior 3D colours, and the Vivid Colour System.
The Bi-luminate system uses a dual-layer approach to create an amazing 3D effect when your pool is filled with water. You will be astounded by how much your pool sparkles in the sunlight. What’s more, your pool is also protected with an added layer of protection thanks to the second colour layer made from high-quality vinyl ester resin.
The Vivid colour range offers a wide selection of popular and vibrant colours. Our Vivid pools are created using our exclusive colour chips, which are made in-house. Our Vivid pools look absolutely stunning and are sure to become a centrepiece in your backyard.
For decades, Compass Pools have manufactured innovative fibreglass ceramic pools.
The patented ceramic core technology we use allows us to design tougher and more durable pools that can withstand seasonal ground movement and long-term immersion in water.
This ceramic core technology is an excellent example of the remarkable innovation and quality Compass Pools is known for.
Thanks to the Maxi Rib technology in Compass Pools, they can be installed almost anywhere. Maxi Rib technology means your pool can even be installed above ground, as it provides the necessary support for your pool shell in any situation.
Using a rib-like structure exclusively available in Compass Pools, we can also install your pool on a concrete platform or prepared natural ground, meaning sloping or difficult sites are no problem for us.
There are so many ways you can personalise your Compass Pool to suit your needs. Options include:
- A wader pool
- Infinity pools with a disappearing edge
- Sunpods – a smaller pool connected to your main pool
- Water features such as waterfalls
Having a swimming pool comes with the risk of hydrostatic damage. Essentially, hydrostatic damage occurs when the water level in the ground rises higher than in the pool. As a result, your pool will naturally want to lift or float… much like a boat. When the ground subsides again, the pressure on your pool reduces and can cause structural damage.
In order to prevent damage, you’ve got to release groundwater pressure quickly. Hydrostatic valves let water from beneath escape into the pool, relieving pressure and preventing pool damage. While dirty water can escape into the pool, it’s easy to fix afterwards.
Industry-standard valves can have much smaller capacity, and so don’t have the best track record for protecting pools from structural damage. It’s important to choose a swimming pool with a good quality and fail-safe hydrostatic valve.
In Compass Pools, a patented hydrostatic valve (HydroPro) reduces rising groundwater pressure 5 times faster than industry standard valves used in fibreglass pools. Your pool is protected for life against damage caused by groundwater pressure and extreme storm events.
The HydroPro valve is part of a unique triple guarantee from Compass Pools giving you unmatched protection as a pool owner. All Compass Biluminite Pools also come with:
Hydropro – A TRUE lifetime structural warranty that can be transferred to new owners for up to 25 years.
Armoursheild – A 10-year extended cosmetic warranty gives you peace of mind that your Compass Pool will look sharp and inviting for many years to come.
Ceramic Core – A lifetime structural warranty is included with all Compass Pools Bi-luminite Fibreglass Ceramic pools. If you move, it can be transferred to a new owner within 25 years. When selling a home, this is a great selling point.
